Taking Penelope for the first time to the Acropolis in Athens Greece
Our daughter has fallen asleep countless times with stories from Greek mythology. One of her favorites is how Athens got its name from the goddess Athena. Walking around the Acropolis then up to the sacred hill to the Parthenon was very special for even at the age of seven.

Yes, Santorini has another side to it.
After visiting Santorini many times you are lucky to discover the local aspects of the island. One of them being the small town of Pyrgos. This is usually where I love to stay when I go with my family. This year after having lunch in the town square of Pyrgos at Kantouni restaurant we booked or stay on the beach of Perivolos. Staying on the cliffs of Santorinis Caldera in the middle of August is completely insane. Prices are through the roof and the crowds make it somewhat unpleasant. Visiting “The Big Blue” of Amorgos Greece
The island of Amorgos has been on my bucket list since 1988 when the movie, The Big Blue first came out. A few years earlier my family had moved from the States to my mothers island of Lesvos then later to Crete. When on the island perhaps lake Agia should be on your radar of visits.

New Year’s Day gestures from ancient Greece with a twist of local tradition
When the New Year arrives in Greece, and it is time to enter your house for the first time, a combination of traditions help bring good fortune to that home. Mainly smashing a pomegranate is the most accepted gesture to be performed at your doorstep. From ancient times in Greece, a pomegranate is regarded as the fruit of abundance, fertility, eternal life and luck. So you actually want the fruit to spread at and within your doorstep. A stone for stability and a foundation for the New Year beginning and an icon saint protector for spiritual protection. Followed by the cutting of the Vasilopita, these are some of the most known t ...

Western Crete and the town of Chania is best known as a Summer destination. With its amazing beaches, enjoyable nightlife, food for the entire family and leisure and safe environment. And when as a family we want to take a stroll downtown, after work, in the middle of the holidays, this is what Chania looks like. December 26th 2017. The day after Christmas. The day Santa Run takes place. Lots of fun and with many people dressed as Santa. Everywhere you go, you end up seeing groups of red-dressed festive participants. The Venetian harbor now ...
