Rethymno Crete Greece family photographer. A birthday gift from Norway

families lifestyle

The gift of a family photo shoot for a birthday has been very high on my request list for the past couple of years.

When people travel from around the world and decide to visit Crete they love to combine the scenery with the gift of a family photo shoot.

Such was the case of the Grann’s from Norway. The family of 8 with now two little members chose to celebrate their mothers 60th birthday within the Fortezza Castle of Rethymno Crete.

Six children and now the two grandchildren walked around with me in the morning heat of August, all together with a sense of explorers.

I melted and they loved it.

In their own words:

The pictures are amazing!

We had a family viewing just an hour before my family and I had to leave for the airport (back in Norway with 15 degrees and rain…..). There are so many excellent shots, fun angles, and for our part, so many cool shots of our small ones. Thank you for that!

From Nikita with love. A boudoir photo session in Chania Crete Greece
For Nikita posing in lingerie was not something new as she also models back home in Belgium. But posing as a gift for her man was a challenge she opted for while on vacation in Greece. Now mind you Nikita is also a mother of one so any excuses from ladies reading this have to be left here at this point. And that is one of the reasons I felt honored to do this session. I wanted women to realize that they have to take the challenge when they can because time flies and so does your opportunities to honor your heart, soul and yes your body. And that is what Nikita wanted, to give this gift to herself for herself and to the man she loves. For ...

Family photographer in Chania Crete, photo session of Soley-Jakob and family from Iceland
Up until a few hours of this photo shoot in the Old Town of Chania, I wasn’t sure if it was going to happen. Due to the weather changing every other day I thought that the family wanted bright sun and crystal blue skies. But Jakob and Soley live in Iceland and the cloudy weather didn’t bother them at all. A rare case for Crete in the Summer, but a possibility none the less. The family, with their distinct and relaxed presence, inspired me to use the days' characteristics to match their style. During our one-hour family photo session, we quickly got to know each other and have some fun in the proses. I really can’t wait to repea ...

Winter elegance in Chania, Crete
For this session all I needed was a brief walk around some of the alleys of Chanias’ old town, and of course the presents of Yulia. A not so complex scenario helps with the realistic look of a Lifestyle photo shoot, therefor creating an atmosphere I love to shoot in, and always makes my subjects fluid and natural. The soft winter light of Chania Crete, combined with the timing and willingness to connect, guarantees that the portraits will be eye grabbing and emotional. Narrow cobblestone streets, a variety of rough and mild textures, and props that simply rolled into the cameras frame, all blended into the vision I had imagined and w ...
