The Van Dalen family photo shoot in Chania’s Venetian Harbor

families

A family of four, Richard, Gaby, Niels and Robin met up with me and my assistant Agie for a one-hour session in the Venetian Harbor of Chania, Crete here in Greece.

Coming from Holland they definitely enjoyed the nice sunny day in town.

And here are a few words from Gaby:

In English:

What place should be better for a family photoshoot than a place in the country that feels like a second home to us: Of course no other than a place in Greece! That was the thought I had before I searched for a photographer nearby Chania, to surprise my husband during our holiday in Crete. When I saw Andreas’ website I immediately contacted and I got a good en clear advise of the options within our possibilities and wishes. Yahoo, the day before leaving for Crete, while packaging our suitcases, we had a deal! After a week juicing up the Greece atmosphere, and all having a tiny tan on our faces, the day had come. At once it felt comfortable with Andreas and assistant Agie. With ease and humor, we went through it all, in the lovely old town of Chania. We all enjoyed it very much and we love the result. Wow, what a souvenir we now have!

Thanks a lot, Andreas, and Agie of course, for the beautiful photographs and good memories of the moment.

Chania Crete family photographer (The Pedersen’s from Norway)
Family photography sessions in Chania, Crete are always fun for me. Especially when young kids are involved. Although the kids bring up the challenge factor due to their natural spontaneity. I have to be extra sharp not only to catch the right instance of a moment, but better yet, foresee it coming. Being a rookie dad myself chasing my little girl around all day helps too :)   The Pedersen’s from Norway contacted my asking to be photographed somewhere with local nature and also on the beach. A very nice combination. I suggested the well managed Botanical Gardens in Chania for the first part, then the beach in front of t ...

Our little Penelope
There come times in life when you just gotta break the rules. For years now I try not to mix my family with work. Recently though I have been experiencing new heights of picture taking due to my newborn little girl Penelope. Because of her I have changed the way I view life and have become even more sensitive to my subjects.   What I wanted to share with everyone is the joy of newborn photo sessions via my own baby. In Greece it isn’t as popular as in the States for example, but I have hope that people will accept me into their homes before their child turn 40 days old. Not an easy obstacle to tackle, but doable.  I am so hap ...
