Visiting “The Big Blue” of Amorgos Greece
The island of Amorgos has been on my bucket list since 1988 when the movie, The Big Blue first came out. A few years earlier my family had moved from the States to my mothers island of Lesvos then later to Crete. The movies’ cinematography and music simply revoked all the positive of the island live in Greece. Walking up the steps to the monastery of Chozoviotisa then swimming in the crystal clear waters just bellow Saint Anna was as if living in Luc Besson’s majestic film. Chania Crete photographer, images from Epiphany Day in Chalepa and Apokoronas.
  Epiphany Day is the ceremony were an Orthodox priest throws a cross into the water and swimmers race to retrieve it. Similar ceremonies to mark Epiphany Day were held across Greece at the sea, rivers, lakes and dams. The swimmer, with the cross then goes around town and collects money in exchange for a blessing. This was a family day for us as for many others. We chose to watch the cross thrown into Koloura cove in Chalepa, Chania then spend the day and have lunch at the wonderful Tzitzikas cafe restaurant in Armenous, Chania Crete Greece.   ..

When the highly respected list of rising photographers of Rangefinder Magazine came out, I was stunned and ecstatic to see familiar names on the list. Well for this bunch of photographers it is obvious that the world has spoken and stated that they are ahead of their game and leading the way to new and exciting places. Photographers such as Pablo Beglez, Lukas Piatek, Rafal Bojar, Daniel Alonso Beyond the simple acquaintance, some of them were more than happy to share their story, or “secrets” of trade and even have a beer or two.Does this make me a better photographer?No..!
