Yes, Santorini has another side to it.
After visiting Santorini many times you are lucky to discover the local aspects of the island.
One of them being the small town of Pyrgos. This is usually where I love to stay when I go with my family.
This year after having lunch in the town square of Pyrgos at Kantouni restaurant we booked or stay on the beach of Perivolos.
Staying on the cliffs of Santorinis Caldera in the middle of August is completely insane. Prices are through the roof and the crowds make it somewhat unpleasant.
And after visiting the calmness of Amorgos we chose to be on the beach. A bit more family-friendly and spacious it was a welcome 2 nights.

Visiting “The Big Blue” of Amorgos Greece
The island of Amorgos has been on my bucket list since 1988 when the movie, The Big Blue first came out.
A few years earlier my family had moved from the States to my mothers island of Lesvos then later to Crete. The movies’ cinematography and music simply revoked all the positive of the island live in Greece.
Walking up the steps to the monastery of Chozoviotisa then swimming in the crystal clear waters just bellow Saint Anna was as if living in Luc Besson’s majestic film.
Doing this with my family was even better. Both my wife and daughter loved the place. And my personal expectations were also met.
