Yes, Crete even has a few lakes
Believe it or not, the island of Crete known for its award-winning beaches has a few lakes.
One of them just 15 min drive from the city center of Chania in the area of Agia. And that is actually the name of the lake.
Penelope and I took a short day trip and enjoyed nature together with the lakes ducks and geese.
When on the island perhaps lake Agia should be on your radar of visits.

New Year’s Day gestures from ancient Greece with a twist of local tradition
When the New Year arrives in Greece, and it is time to enter your house for the first time, a combination of traditions help bring good fortune to that home.
Mainly smashing a pomegranate is the most accepted gesture to be performed at your doorstep.
From ancient times in Greece, a pomegranate is regarded as the fruit of abundance, fertility, eternal life and luck.
So you actually want the fruit to spread at and within your doorstep.
A stone for stability and a foundation for the New Year beginning and an icon saint protector for spiritual protection.

Winter walk around Chania with some unexpected surprises.
Western Crete and the town of Chania is best known as a Summer destination. With its amazing beaches, enjoyable nightlife, food for the entire family and leisure and safe environment.
But during Winter, life doesn’t stop for us locals living here throughout the entire year.

Bringing some local lifestyle to a villa photo shoot in the South of Crete
Photographing villas for me is a substantial part of my work. The main aspect I try to implement in this type of work is of genuine lifestyle during each photo shoot.
This is what I incorporated when I recently photographed a small villa in the renowned village of Sfakia in the South of Crete.
Sfakia is known throughout history for the bravery of it’s inhabitants during every single war that the island has been involved in. A proud group of people that now see thousands of tourists flock by during the Summer due to the passage from the Samaria Gorge and quaint neighboring villages like, Loutro, Fragokastelo and others.

Some of the best rising wedding photographers in the world
When the highly respected list of rising photographers of Rangefinder Magazine came out, I was stunned and ecstatic to see familiar names on the list.
Well for this bunch of photographers it is obvious that the world has spoken and stated that they are ahead of their game and leading the way to new and exciting places.
Photographers such as Pablo Beglez, Lukas Piatek, Rafal Bojar, Daniel Alonso
Beyond the simple acquaintance, some of them were more than happy to share their story, or “secrets” of trade and even have a beer or two.Does this make me a better photographer?No..! But I am glad to know that I am on to something good. Just ...
Dancing and eating into the new year in Chania Crete, Greece
Why I supported TEDx Chania
To start with, I need to emphasise on how much every professional, in just about any field, has to find time and effort, and give back to the community they practice their business in, and not just expect to receive ALL THE TIME.
With this in mind I try to find and help with my profession, individuals or groups, that strive, work hard and have a vision. My job then is to help that vision become audio, visual, or both.
I can either photograph, capture a film or simply guide in the best way that I have learned thus far.
TEDx Chania approached me with the need of photographic coverage of their speakers. Being the low season of ...
