Discovering Sicily in the middle of October with family

My journal

Most of the time you hear about people visiting Sicily during the Summer months to enjoy the sun and swim in the beautiful beaches the Italian island has to offer.

Well for us it’s a different story. Having to work most of the time during the Summer it is hard to escape and enjoy those aspects.

So we decided to take a short flight from Athens to Sicily.

After a short flight delay due to volcanic activity from Mount Etna, we arrived in Catania. From there we drove to Palermo where we stayed for a few days.

Palermo is somehow forgotten by time in many areas and is justly called the Havana of Europe.

I think the images speak for themselves.

One of the days while in Palermo we took a day trip to the hilltop town of Erice.

Our next stay was in the beautiful town of Taormina.

After spending some time during the Summer in Amorgos Greece, going to Taormina was an epic way to live another portion from the movie “The Big Blue”.

Ancient Greek ruins, pizza, the blue Mediterranean Sea and the constantly erupting Etna in the background was breathtaking.

And best of all, during our trip, the weather was warm and sunny.

Chania Crete photographer, images from Epiphany Day in Chalepa and Apokoronas.
Epiphany Day is the ceremony were an Orthodox priest throws a cross into the water and swimmers race to retrieve it. Similar ceremonies to mark Epiphany Day were held across Greece at the sea, rivers, lakes and dams. The swimmer, with the cross then goes around town and collects money in exchange for a blessing. This was a family day for us as for many others. We chose to watch the cross thrown into Koloura cove in Chalepa, Chania then spend the day and have lunch at the wonderful Tzitzikas cafe restaurant in Armenous, Chania Crete Greece.   ..

Some of the best rising wedding photographers in the world
When the highly respected list of rising photographers of Rangefinder Magazine came out, I was stunned and ecstatic to see familiar names on the list. Well for this bunch of photographers it is obvious that the world has spoken and stated that they are ahead of their game and leading the way to new and exciting places. Photographers such as Pablo Beglez, Lukas Piatek, Rafal Bojar, Daniel Alonso Beyond the simple acquaintance, some of them were more than happy to share their story, or “secrets” of trade and even have a beer or two.Does this make me a better photographer?No..! But I am glad to know that I am on to something good. Just ...
